Your Gateway to the Isle of Arran

Bay View belongs to a street of sandstone cottages built for the estate workers of Brodick Castle in the 19th century. The cottage is full of character with a prominent elevated location giving expansive views of Brodick Bay and Goatfell. From the grassy bank outside the cottage, you can view all the activity on the pier and see the ferry arriving in port. The spacious accommodation is a very good standard and provides all the comforts of home with 2 living rooms and a dining area overlooking the bay and there is a large south-facing garden for your enjoyment.

The cottage is highly recommended for relaxing family holidays or for small gatherings, with easy access to the village amenities and the sandy beach of Brodick. Short breaks can be enjoyed outside of peak holiday periods and although a car is useful for exploring the island, it is not essential as there is a regular bus service linking the villages around the island. There is a pleasing choice of restaurants close by, including the newly opened boutique style Douglas Hotel offering a bistro and whisky bar; and the family friendly 4 star Auchrannie Spa Resort with its extensive range of leisure facilities, including a spa swimming pool, indoor sports hall, beauty and alternative therapies (advance bookings advised), a hair salon and a choice of restaurants and bars. There will also be a new children's play barn opening in July 2011 with 3 tier soft play, free Wifi and a cafe

You can also follow circular paths to discover ancient sites, including the Standing Stones at Machrie Moor, King's Caves near Blackwaterfoot and the Giant's Graves above Whiting Bay.

Cycling is also very popular on this hilly island and there are hire facilities in Brodick with mountain and road bikes for children and adults. The Arran Bike Club website provides lots of information on recommended routes with free maps to download.

With seven golf courses, horse riding, a range of outdoor adventure activities and award-winning visitor attractions, Arran is a perfect holiday destination and easily accessible from the Scottish mainland with regular Calmac ferries taking just 55 minutes, so you can be away from it all in no time at all.
