You can also follow circular paths to discover ancient sites, including the Standing Stones at Machrie Moor, King's Caves near Blackwaterfoot and the Giant's Graves above Whiting Bay.
Cycling is also very popular on this hilly island and there are hire facilities in Brodick with mountain and road bikes for children and adults. The Arran Bike Club website provides lots of information on recommended routes with free maps to download.
With seven golf courses, horse riding, a range of outdoor adventure activities and award-winning visitor attractions, Arran is a perfect holiday destination and easily accessible from the Scottish mainland with regular Calmac ferries taking just 55 minutes, so you can be away from it all in no time at all.
